Job Description

Position Summary

As part of the NextGen Department at River Valley Church, and specifically the Kids team at Chaska, the Associate Kids Pastor/Ministry Lead will be responsible for overseeing all early childhood programming with the focus of classroom oversight, volunteer coordination and partnering with families to meet their child’s needs. This position also acts as a co-lead for all Kids specific interns at the Chaska campus.

Hours: This position is approximately 24 hours per week.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Kids Associate Pastor/Ministry Lead is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:

Weekend Responsibilities

  • Be the leader available to oversee Early Childhood programs each weekend in the area of scheduling, training, troubleshooting, and recruitment.
    • Recruit, train, and regularly schedule volunteers need to care for kids at all weekend services
    • Raise up volunteer leaders to present in the Elementary and Preschool rooms. Step in to serve as a lead presenter, as needed.
  • Review over lesson plans received from Central Services for each week and make necessary adjustments applicable to the campus.

Campus Leadership

  • Be a champion for the vision of Kids amongst families with young children. Regularly meet and share the vision in order to empower parents with tools they can use to lead their children into a strong, personal faith journey
  • Ensure Next Gen and Kids best practices, policies, strategies, and leadership initiatives are in place
  • Manage purchasing of supplies for the campus specific to Early Childhood ministry. This may include furniture, toys, signage, and equipment.
  • Assist in any kids events for the campus outside of weekend services, including midweek.
  • Provide oversight of midweek childcare.

Central Kids Team

  • Participate in kids team connects (including Ministry Mondays), workaways, house-wide events, and regular individual connects with Kids leadership.
  • Work closely with the Kids team as well as Kids leadership to collaborate, design, and implement initiatives pertaining to series topics, Kidmin ministry strategy, and ongoing development and improvement of Kids programming at large.
  • Co-lead with other Kids Pastor as ministry mentor for Campus kids interns, assisting them with goal setting, assigning projects, and giving them weekend specific responsibility.
  • Attend and serve at the annual summer Kids camp


Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills with kids, teenagers, and adults
  • High level of creativity and flexibility
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities at a time, discerning and setting appropriate goals and timelines
  • Proficient in the use of G-Suite as well as Database usage


Education

Any combination of education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described with an emphasis on continual learning. Qualified candidates should either have ministerial credentials or be working towards obtaining credentials. Credentials with the Assemblies of God are preferred.


Experience

Successful candidate should have at least 1-2 years related experience.
