Supporting the lead pastor and executive team, the position helps lead and inspire the church community in the biblical principles of stewardship and generosity. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing programs and initiatives that encourage faithful management of personal and church resources, fostering a culture of generosity, and enabling the financial health and sustainability of the church. Furthermore, the role is responsible for the church's giving operations, fund-raising programs, periodic capital campaigns, estate planning, and deferred-giving programs.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Provide Strategic Vision and Leadership

  • Develop a comprehensive vision and strategy for stewardship and generosity that aligns with the lead pastor’s and church’s mission and values, and that is based on key metrics/analysis.
  • Formulate and manage major fund-raising programs that encourage extraordinary giving and generosity, such as annual overflow campaigns, multi-year capital campaigns, and other planned-giving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with church leadership across church functions/departments and campuses to integrate stewardship into all aspects of church life and ministry, and to shift stewardship and fund-raising objectives based on church-wide trends as appropriate.

Establish Church-Wide Culture of Stewardship and Generosity

  • Organize and lead classes, seminars, and small groups focused on biblical financial principles.
  • Develop resources and tools to inspire and coach individuals and families with implementation of practical biblical financial methods (e.g., household budgeting; debt avoidance/reduction).

Other Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Optimize Giving Operations and Systems to be Customer-Focused and Giver-Centric
  • Engage/Integrate Key Donors Across Multiple Campuses
  • Analyze/Report on Financial Stewardship and Generosity

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE

  • Pastoral experience with the ability to teach/coach is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Biblical stewardship and/or fund-raising
  • MA in Biblical Studies or MDiv preferred.
  • MBA preferred, but not required.
  • Financial background and work experience in finance, personal finance, etc.
  • Experience supervising staff is preferred.

This person will be hired as a Director or Pastor depending on ministry experience.

Saddleback Church’s pay philosophy is based on internal and external data for pay equity and budgetary considerations for effective stewardship. The estimated pay rate for this position is $100,000-$140,000 per year, depending on experience. We will provide a pay rate within our salary structure that fits a candidate’s qualifications and experience for the job. The posted wage range does not guarantee a specific job offer.
